A writ petition has been filed in the Allahabad High Court claiming that there is a Shiva temple in the premises of the Taj Mahal. The Hindu side has approached the court on the issue of the ‘Agreshwar Mahadev Naganatheshwara Tejo Mahalaya’ temple. In this context, the petitioners have asked the court to grant permission to conduct a survey and photography inside the Taj Mahal. Earlier, the Agra District Court had rejected the request to conduct a survey in the same case. With this, lawyer Hari Shankar Jain has filed a petition in the Allahabad High Court challenging that verdict.

A bench of Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal, which accepted the petition, sought an explanation from the Central Government and the ASI. The Allahabad High Court will decide whether to grant permission for the survey at the Taj Mahal based on the counter affidavits filed by the Central Government and the ASI. (Maxim News)
