Hyderabad, May 2: Liquor prices in Telangana are likely to increase soon, with the government reportedly preparing to take a final call this month.
Price Revision On The Cards
Sources indicate that the Excise Department has been given signals to examine a price hike.
A three-member committee is reviewing proposals submitted by distilleries.
Based on production costs and market conditions, prices may be revised across categories.
Premium brands could see an increase of up to ₹100 per full bottle.
Mid-range and regular brands may witness hikes ranging from ₹60 to ₹120, depending on category.
Rising Costs Behind Proposed Hike
Officials say rising input costs are a key factor.
Global factors, including the West Asia situation, have pushed up gas prices used in bottle manufacturing.
Liquor companies have been pressing for a price revision citing higher production expenses.
Typically, liquor prices in the state are revised once every two years.
Govt Balancing Revenue And Public Reaction
The government is reportedly trying to strike a balance between revenue generation and public sentiment.

A steep hike could trigger backlash and also encourage illegal liquor production.
Officials are considering a moderate increase that benefits both the state and manufacturers.
Estimates suggest the revision could generate around ₹250 crore per month, translating to nearly ₹3,000 crore annually in additional revenue.
The committee is expected to submit its report soon, after which the government will take a final decision.
