Litigation-Proof Appointments Of Parliamentary Secretaries Planned

Hyderabad, Jan.14 (Maxim News): The TRS government is gearing up to appoint Parliamentary Secretaries once again. This time, the objective of the State government is to avoid any legal problems as has been the case earlier.

During its first term in 2015, the TRS government had appointed six Parliamentary Secretaries and conferred cabinet rank on them. However, some people approached the High Court and got the appointments struck down as null and void. Keeping this in mind, the Chief Minister was planning to make the appointments without attracting any legal scrutiny. The authorities have already studied similar models existing in other States like Chhattisgarh and the responsibility to avoid any legal hurdle after the appointment of the secretaries has been entrusted to legal luminaries in the State.

It has been decided to appoint parliamentary secretaries as assistants to State cabinet ministers. They will be entrusted to answer the questions raised by members in the Assembly on behalf of the ministers concerned. They will not be conferred with cabinet rank. The idea of the Chief Minister seems to be to accommodate one MLA from each of the 33 districts of the State. (Maxim News)
