Malaysian PM calls on actor Rajinikanth

Malaysian Prime Minister MohammadNajib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak today called on Tamil SuperstarRajinikanth. Mr Razak, who arrived here last evening on a five-day officialvisit to India, met the actor at his Poes Garden residence thismorning. Later, Rajinikanth described the meeting as a courtesy call. ”We had a cordial meeting”, he added.

He said his recent hit film Kabali was shot in Malaysia and that he could get a chance to thank him and express his gratitudeto him. Razak’s visit to Chennai comes ahead of general elections in Malaysia, where the Tamil diaspora has a considerable presence and Rajinikanth, a large fan base. It was during the actor’s stay in Malacca that Mr Razakbecame a fan of the Superstar.
