MIM gets paid to divide Muslim votes: Congress

Adilabad: The Congress party has alleged that the MIM was acting like the minority wing of both BJP and TRS to sabotage the interest of Muslim community in Telangana State.

Addressing the ‘Karyakarta Sabha’ in Adilabad on Saturday, TPCC Minorities Department Chairman Shaik Abdullah Sohail asked the Muslim community to stay cautious from the divisive politics of MIM. “BJP and MIM are the two sides of a same coin and both are allies of TRS. They want to keep the community engaged on emotional issues so that it does not question them about their failures and other issues of development. Caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrashkehar Rao betrayed the Muslim community on the promise of 12% reservation. But Asaduddin Owaisi never raised his voice against him. Prime Minister Narender Modi-led BJP Government has been suppressing the minorities across the country. Despite calling himself a national leader, MIM president never organised a single protest against such suppression. He is misleading the entire community with provocative statements and simply carrying forward the RSS agenda,” he alleged.

“The Twitter Boy (Owaisi) feels happy after writing a few lines online against the BJP and Modi. He also feels great after giving interviews to various news channels. He apparently thinks that he is doing a great service to the community just by hitting headlines for all wrong reasons. However, in reality, Asaduddin Owaisi is causing more damage to the community than the Sangh Parivar. His statements might look spicy for the media. But for the Muslim community, his statements are proving to be venomous,” Abdullah Sohail said.

He said by criticising the meeting between Congress president Rahul Gandhi and AP CM Chandrababu Naidu, Asaduddin Owaisi has proved that his party was the minority wing of both BJP and TRS which are opposed to the unity of secular forces in the country.

The Congress leader appealed to the Muslim community not to get carried away with the statements of Owaisi. “MIM will come to Adilabad, Nirmal and all other constituencies with sizeable Muslim population. It might also field its candidates to divide the Muslim votes in next elections. Since KCR has failed to fulfil the promises he made with Muslims and also allied with the BJP secretly, the minorities would vote for the Congress and other parties in Grand Alliance in next elections. Therefore, MIM would field its candidates in different constituencies to divide Muslim votes. It tried the same strategy in Maharashtra, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in the past and also succeeded in ensuring the victory of BJP on several seats. It would implement the same strategy in Telangana to divide anti-TRS vote to help the BJP’s secret ally win the elections. Don’t allow it to happen in your constituency,” he said.

Abdullah Sohail said MIM had won the Assembly election for the first time in 1962 and also won Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat in 1984. “Despite enjoying power for the last 56 years, MIM has failed to develop the areas that it represents in Assembly and Lok Sabha. It could not even expand beyond seven seats in the last so many decades. It neither has an organisation nor agenda for other areas even in Telangana State. Therefore, it is obvious that fielding candidates from different constituencies where it does not even have any presence is a part-time business for MIM. It collects huge money from the parties it intends to benefit through division of votes. The Muslim community should avoid division of votes through MIM so as to defeat TRS in next elections,” he said.

The Congress leader also asked the party cadre, especially those associated with the Minorities Department, to work actively for the next 40 days to ensure Congress victory in next elections.

Abdullah Sohail and other Congress leaders would also address ‘Karyakarta Sabhas’ for the activists of Armoor, Bodhan and Nizamabad at Nizamabad DCC office on November 4 and for workers of Siddipet, Zahirabad, Sangareddy and Patencheru constituencies on November 5. (Maxim News)
