Hyderabad, July 10 (Maxim News): Former India captain and Telangana Minister Mohammed Azharuddin has expressed disappointment over Team India’s continued poor performance in England, urging the players to move beyond the IPL mindset after the visitors suffered a third consecutive defeat to lose the five match T20I series.
Reacting to India’s series defeat, Azharuddin said batting in England demands a completely different approach from playing in the Indian Premier League.
Azhar stressed that attempting to hit every delivery for a boundary is not a successful strategy in English conditions.
Azharuddin Says England Conditions Demand Different Approach
Azharuddin said England’s pitches offer significant swing and bounce, allowing bowlers to exploit the technical weaknesses of Indian batters. He added that Indian players must quickly adapt to overseas conditions instead of relying on aggressive IPL style batting.
According to the former captain, England bowlers have effectively identified the vulnerabilities of India’s batting line up and capitalised on them throughout the series.
He also expressed concern over India’s recent run of defeats, pointing out that the team first lost both matches against Ireland before suffering three successive defeats against England, making it five consecutive losses overall.
Team India Must Learn Quickly, Says Azharuddin
Azharuddin said the string of defeats is not a good sign for Indian cricket and urged the players to learn from their mistakes without delay.
Although the series has already been lost, he called on the team to fight for pride in the remaining match and finish the tour on a positive note.
He said overseas cricket requires patience, discipline and technical adaptability, qualities that become even more important in challenging English conditions.
The former India captain added that strong performances outside the subcontinent remain crucial for India’s long term success in international cricket.
