Minor Girl Dies by Suicide in Hyderabad, Family Accuses Teacher of Harassment

Hyderabad: A 14-year-old girl allegedly died by suicide at her residence in Moosapet under the Kukatpally Police Station limits on Thursday. Her family has accused a private school teacher of harassing her, prompting the police to launch an investigation.

The Class IX student had migrated with her family from Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam district and was residing in Moosapet. She was studying at a private school where the accused, identified as P. Naresh (22), worked as a teacher and also conducted private tuition classes.

Hyderabad Minor Girl Suicide: Police Probe Harassment Allegations

According to the police, the teacher and the student had allegedly developed a close acquaintance. After learning about it, the girl’s parents counselled her and reportedly lodged a complaint against the teacher with the school management on Wednesday.

Police said the girl attended school on Thursday but returned home in the afternoon after complaining of stomach pain.

Later in the evening, she allegedly made a video call to the teacher and informed him that she was about to end her life. The teacher immediately alerted one of her relatives, who rushed to the house along with other family members.

The relatives found the girl hanging and shifted her to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

Following the incident, family members and local residents accused the teacher of subjecting the minor to unwanted attention and held him responsible for her death. They allegedly assaulted him before police arrived and brought the situation under control.

Based on a complaint filed by the girl’s family, the Kukatpally Police registered a case and launched an investigation.

Police said they are examining all allegations, including those made against the teacher, to determine the exact circumstances that led to the minor girl’s death.
