Minor Girl Married to a Construction Worker in Telangana

Hyderabad: A 16-year-old minor girl in Telangana was married to a 23-year-old construction worker on June 1st; the day also happens to be International children’s day. A vernacular TV channel also presented a video of marriage showing violation of social distancing norms.

It is said that a local politician is also involved in favour of marriage. A case has been filed against priest, family members of groom and bride, and those encouraging marriage.

Child rights activists Achyutha Rao of Balala Hakkula Sangam have also said a penal action against priest, bride and groom’s parents, and groom.
