Hyderabad, August 24: HYDRA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath visited Anjayanagar in Sherilingampally mandal on Monday to inspect the removal of dangerous buildings after a seven-storey structure collapsed there on Saturday.
He conducted the field visit along with Kukatpally Zonal Commissioner Mayank Singh.
CMC and HYDRA teams jointly began demolition work on Sunday and continued through Monday.
According to HYDRA Commissioner Ranganath, the situation demands urgent action to prevent loss of life. He said no one can predict when another building may collapse.
Furthermore, he confirmed that authorities identify dangerous structures and take swift steps to remove them before any accident occurs. He added that residents of all affected buildings were evacuated in advance as a precautionary measure.
Additionally, local residents approached CMC and HYDRA officials with complaints about several other buildings near the collapsed structure. They said those buildings also pose a serious danger.
As a result, authorities are inspecting those structures too and plan to take necessary action against each one identified as unsafe.

Furthermore, HYDRA Commissioner Ranganath explained the root cause of the collapse. Builders encroached on part of a flood drainage canal and constructed seven or eight-floor buildings on plots of just 50 square yards.
However, the pillars and foundations were laid for only two-floor structures, for which permissions were obtained. Consequently, the structural capacity of these buildings fell far short of the actual load placed on them.
Moreover, the Commissioner said the demolition of the damaged building is taking more time than usual. Teams must ensure that the removal of the unsafe structure does not cause any damage to neighbouring apartments and buildings.
Therefore, workers proceed carefully and methodically to protect surrounding properties during the process.
As a result of the illegal construction practices, multiple buildings in the area now pose safety risks.
HYDRA said it will continue to identify and act against all such structures. Additionally, the Commissioner stressed that authorities will take all necessary steps to prevent danger without causing inconvenience to legally built neighbouring structures. (Maxim News)
