National Seminar On Social Justice Begins At MANUU

Hyderabad: The National Seminar on Social Justice and Inclusion began at Maulana Azad National Urdu University on Monday, bringing together academics and experts to discuss challenges faced by marginalized communities. Speakers stressed the need for inclusive leadership, strong institutions, and evidence based policy to strengthen democratic governance and social inclusion.

The two day National Seminar titled “Social Justice and Inclusion: Challenges and Prospects for Marginalized Communities” is being organized by the Al Beruni Centre for the Study of Social Inclusion at MANUU. The inaugural session set the tone for focused discussions on inequality, development, and empowerment. Participants highlighted how universities can play a key role in addressing social gaps through research and education.

Speaking as the chief guest, Prof. K. M. Baharul Islam, Director of the Institute of Management Technology, Hyderabad, underlined the role of leadership and institutions. “Inclusive leadership and institutional responsibility is needed in strengthening democratic governance,” he said. He stressed that democratic systems remain strong only when they include voices from marginalized sections.

Meanwhile, Prof. Amitabh Kundu, Honorary Professor at MANUU and Distinguished Fellow at the Research and Information System for Developing Countries, delivered the keynote address. He presented an analysis of regional disparities and urbanization. He also explained their impact on marginalized communities within India’s development process. He linked uneven growth patterns to continuing social and economic exclusion.

In his presidential address, MANUU Vice Chancellor Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan focused on policy and research. He stressed the importance of evidence based policymaking and collaborative research to promote social inclusion. He also reaffirmed MANUU’s mission of reaching the unreached through education and equal opportunities for empowerment.

Earlier, Prof. Danish Moin, Director In charge of the Al Beruni Centre for the Study of Social Inclusion, welcomed the participants. He emphasized the need for interdisciplinary research to address social inequalities. Then, Prof. P. H. Mohammad, Dean of the School of Arts and Social Sciences at MANUU, highlighted the university’s long standing commitment to social justice oriented education and research.

Later, Dr. Mohd. Kareem, Research Assistant at ABCSSI, proposed the vote of thanks. Dr. Ayesha Uzma coordinated the session as the seminar coordinator. The seminar will continue with further academic sessions focused on inclusion, justice, and policy responses. (Maxim News)
