Hyderabad, May 14: The National Testing Agency is likely to conduct the re examination for NEET UG 2026 in the last week of June following the cancellation of the medical entrance test over the alleged nationwide question paper leak controversy.
According to NTA sources, preparations are underway to finalise the revised examination schedule and an official announcement regarding the re exam date is expected shortly. Officials appealed to students not to lose confidence and advised aspirants to continue their preparation without panic.
The development comes after the NEET UG 2026 examination conducted on May 3 was cancelled following allegations that portions of the question paper had leaked nearly two days before the examination under the guise of “guess papers”.
CBI Continues Probe Into NEET Paper Leak Case
The question paper leak controversy triggered nationwide concern among students and parents after evidence reportedly confirmed large scale irregularities in the examination process.
Following the allegations, the Union Government handed over the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation, which has launched a nationwide probe into the suspected examination racket.
Investigators have already arrested several accused persons in connection with the case. Preliminary findings reportedly revealed that question papers were allegedly sold to candidates for nearly Rs 5 lakh each through organised networks operating across multiple states.
Officials suspect that digital platforms and intermediaries were used to circulate leaked content before the examination. The probe is currently focused on identifying the larger network involved in the alleged malpractice and tracing financial transactions linked to the racket.
The cancellation of the examination affected nearly 22 lakh medical aspirants across the country, leading to uncertainty and anxiety among students preparing for admission into undergraduate medical courses.
NTA officials said all necessary steps are being taken to ensure transparency and security during the proposed re examination. Enhanced monitoring mechanisms and stricter examination protocols are also expected to be implemented to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Meanwhile, students and parents continue to demand clarity regarding the revised examination schedule, counselling process and academic calendar for medical admissions.
