According to official sources, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is already travelling within Hyderabad city limits with a reduced convoy consisting of only two to three vehicles, except during long distance or high security movements.

Officials are now reportedly examining the possibility of further cutting down the number of vehicles in the Chief Minister’s convoy even during district level tours and outstation visits. Discussions are also underway regarding similar reductions in convoys used by State ministers and senior officials.

Sources said Telangana is also studying additional cost cutting measures including wider use of electric vehicles, virtual meetings and reduced non essential travel by ministers and senior officials.

The Prime Minister recently urged citizens and governments to adopt fuel conservation measures including reduced petrol and diesel consumption, increased use of public transport, carpooling and electric vehicles to help manage the economic impact of the West Asia conflict and rising global fuel prices.
