According to sources, Alam and his family had been residing in Ludhiana, Punjab, although their ancestral home remains in Dalkhola. He reportedly returned to the area earlier this week with his mother and sister to attend a family function. Based on mobile tower tracking data, NIA officials located him in Dalkhola and executed the arrest on Friday.

Following his detention, Alam was taken to Islampur Police Station for initial interrogation. After a few hours of questioning, he was moved to Siliguri in the Darjeeling district. As of Saturday morning, the agency was preparing to bring him to Delhi under transit remand for further investigation.

Residents of Konal village in Dalkhola told reporters that Alam frequently visited his relatives in the area. One villager said, “Alam and his other family members used to come to Konal from time to time to meet their relatives. We have found him to be an extremely well-mannered and soft-spoken youth. We could never guess about his association with insurgency activities.”

Meanwhile, Al-Falah University has drawn national attention following the Red Fort blast and the recovery of explosives. The explosion near the historic site left 12 people dead and dozens injured. Over the past few days, police teams have visited the university campus in Dhauj, Faridabad, questioning 52 doctors to trace any links with the suspected terror network. Investigators are also looking into three individuals — Dr. Muzammil Shakeel, Dr. Shaheen Shahid, and Dr. Umar Mohammed — believed to be part of a Jaish-e-Mohammed module.
