Hyderabad, August 3 (Maxim News): Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has congratulated the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) for successfully completing 1,000 robotic assisted surgeries in less than three years, describing the achievement as a landmark in public healthcare and a reflection of the State government’s commitment to making advanced medical treatment accessible to all.
The Chief Minister said the milestone marks a transformative moment for Telangana’s public healthcare system by bringing world class robotic surgery within the reach of patients who otherwise could not afford such advanced treatment.
He said the achievement highlights NIMS’ commitment to excellence, innovation and equitable healthcare delivery.
By adopting advanced robotic technology in routine clinical practice, NIMS has significantly improved surgical precision while reducing postoperative pain, blood loss and hospital stay.
The technology has also enabled faster recovery for patients, setting a new benchmark for public healthcare institutions across the country.
Over 90 Percent Surgeries Performed Free Under Government Schemes
The Chief Minister congratulated Dr Rahul Devraj, Director of NIMS, Senior Professor of Urology and Renal Transplantation, and Robotic Surgery Coordinator, along with the Departments of Urology, Surgical Gastroenterology, Surgical Oncology, Anaesthesiology, Nursing Services, Operation Theatre staff and other supporting departments for their dedication and teamwork in achieving the milestone.
According to NIMS, the Department of Urology performed 590 robotic surgeries, followed by 248 surgeries by the Department of Surgical Gastroenterology and 162 by the Department of Surgical Oncology.
The procedures included complex urological, gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, pancreatic, colorectal, gynaecological and oncological surgeries.
The Chief Minister highlighted that more than 90 percent of the 1,000 robotic assisted surgeries were performed free of cost under government supported healthcare schemes, including Aarogyasri and the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).
He said the achievement demonstrates the Telangana government’s commitment to ensuring that economically weaker patients receive access to state of the art robotic surgical care without financial burden, reaffirming its vision of providing affordable, world class healthcare to every citizen.
