Notices Issued To 10 Defected Telangana MLAs
Hyderabad, Feb 4 (Maxim News): A key development has taken place in the MLA’s party defection issue. Notices have been issued to the 10 MLAs who have recently defected from BRS to Congress. These notices have been issued as per the orders of the Supreme Court.
The Assembly Secretary has issued notices to MLAs who joined the Congress from BRS. The notices state that they should give a written reply on the party defection. It is known that BRS has approached the Supreme Court to disqualify the MLAs who have changed parties. The Telangana High Court had earlier ordered action to be taken against the MLAs who had defected within four months. However, as there was no progress, the BRS party approached the Supreme Court.
Ten MLAs who won from the BRS party in the 2023 assembly elections have joined the Congress party. The BRS party has already filed a petition in the High Court seeking their disqualification. Although the High Court had ordered action to be taken against the MLAs within four months, the matter has not progressed. With this, the BRS party filed a petition in the Supreme Court. Initially, BRS filed a petition seeking the disqualification of Tellam Venkat Rao, Kadiam Srihari, and Danam Nagender.
After that, BRS approached the Supreme Court to disqualify seven more MLAs.
However, the Supreme Court adjourned the hearing of this case to the 10th of this month, saying that they will hear all of them together. On the other hand, while the hearing was going on in the court, BRS also asked the Speaker to disqualify the MLAs who had changed their party. Responding to this, the Speaker issued notices to the MLAs who had defected from the party. The notices asked them to give written answers. (Maxim News)
