Osmania Hospital Five Organ Transplant | Hyderabad, July 3 (Maxim News): Telangana Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha on Friday felicitated the medical team of Osmania General Hospital for successfully performing India’s first simultaneous five organ (multivisceral) transplant in a government hospital.
The minister honoured the doctors and healthcare professionals during a ceremony held at the State Secretariat, describing the achievement as a landmark in the country’s medical history.
The minister congratulated the transplant team led by Dr. Madhusudan, which completed the highly complex surgery after nearly 36 hours of continuous effort. He said the successful procedure has brought pride not only to Telangana but also to the entire nation.
Damodar Rajanarasimha said multivisceral transplantation is considered one of the most challenging surgeries in modern medicine. Therefore, the successful operation reflects the expertise, commitment, and teamwork of doctors and healthcare professionals at Osmania General Hospital.

He appreciated the contribution of transplant surgeons, anaesthesiologists, gastroenterologists, critical care specialists, nursing staff, transplant coordinators, and other supporting personnel who participated in the procedure.
The minister also expressed gratitude to the family of the organ donor for choosing organ donation, which made the life-saving surgery possible. He urged citizens to spread awareness about organ donation, saying, “Organ donation is the greatest donation.”

Meanwhile, the minister said the Telangana government is transforming government hospitals into institutions capable of delivering healthcare on par with leading corporate hospitals. Under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the state has significantly strengthened the public healthcare system through infrastructure upgrades and recruitment.
He said the government has filled nearly 15,000 vacancies in the Health Department over the past two and a half years. In addition, it recently approved another 6,238 posts to further improve healthcare services across the state.
Furthermore, the government is constructing permanent buildings for hospitals and medical colleges currently functioning in old or rented premises. It is also installing advanced diagnostic equipment and modern operation theatres to improve patient care.
The minister said these initiatives aim to ensure that people receive high-quality treatment in government hospitals. He added that the dedication of doctors and medical staff is helping Telangana gain national recognition for excellence in public healthcare (Maxim News).
