Two Held With 2.33 Kg Ganja In Hyderabad, Supplier Hunt On

Hyderabad, July 3: Bhavani Nagar Police and the Charminar Zone Task Force arrested two alleged ganja peddlers and seized 2.334 kg of cannabis, cash, a two wheeler and mobile phones during a joint operation in Hyderabad.

The accused were booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and remanded to judicial custody. Police said efforts are underway to trace the main supplier.

Two Held With 2.33 Kg Ganja

According to the police, the operation was conducted on July 2 near the railway track at Road No. 0, Talab Katta, under the Bhavani Nagar police station limits. At around 4.10 pm, two men travelling on a red Honda Activa without a registration plate allegedly tried to flee after noticing the police.

Police intercepted the vehicle and recovered 2.334 kg of ganja during a search conducted under the provisions of the NDPS Act. The seized contraband is valued at around Rs 54,900.

The arrested accused were identified as Mohammad Nasir alias Chaku Nasir alias Choti Chaku, 43, and Mohammad Mehraj Ali alias Amer, 24.

During the investigation, police found that the accused had allegedly procured the ganja from a supplier in Nagpur, Maharashtra, and brought it to Hyderabad for distribution. The contraband was reportedly being packed into small sachets for sale to local consumers.

Police said Nasir is a history sheeter at Bhavani Nagar police station and has previously been involved in several cases, including ganja smuggling, offences under the Arms Act and theft. Mehraj Ali was also previously booked in two ganja related cases.

The police seized 2.334 kg of ganja, five small packets of ganja, six empty zip lock covers, Rs 6,000 in cash, a red Honda Activa without a number plate, a Nokia keypad mobile phone and a Samsung S22 Ultra mobile phone

Police said the investigation is continuing to identify and arrest the supplier and others involved in the drug trafficking network.

Hyderabad City Police reiterated its zero tolerance policy against drug trafficking and appealed to the public to report drug related activities by calling 100, 112 or the nearest police station.
