Osmania University Cyber Security | Hyderabad, April 23 (Maxim News): Osmania University has moved to strengthen cyber security education through a proposed international academic partnership with Australia’s Macquarie University Cyber Skills Academy and KPMG India.
The high level virtual meeting, held by the Office of International Affairs, focused on launching industry aligned programmes that can equip students with job ready digital skills.
The meeting was chaired by Prof. B. Vijaya, Director of the Office of International Affairs. Senior university officials, global education representatives and industry leaders joined the discussion to explore a long term collaboration in cyber security and digital trust.
Osmania University Cyber Security Partnership for Students
Officials discussed integrating specialised cyber security courses into Osmania University curricula. The proposed model aims to blend academic learning with practical industry exposure. As a result, students may receive hands on training, expert mentoring and direct insights into emerging cyber threats.
Participants said the initiative could significantly improve employability for students. Moreover, the programme is expected to prepare graduates for careers in cyber defence, risk management, compliance and digital trust services.
Representatives from the Australian Trade and Investment Commission also joined the meeting. They supported discussions on academic cooperation between Indian and Australian institutions.
Top Officials Attend Strategic Talks

Key attendees included Prof. Krishniah, Dean of Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Sriramulu, Dean of Faculty of Management, Dr. Sammunatha from Management Department, and Dr. M.A. Hameed, Joint Director of OIA.
International participants included Piyush Awasthi from Austrade, Matt Bushy from Macquarie University Cyber Skills Academy, and representatives Kamal Rabha Shankar and Aparna Agarwal Mahaveer from KPMG India.
University sources said the next round of talks will be held with Vice Chancellor Prof. M. Kumar. That meeting is likely to focus on final approval for establishing a Cyber Skills Academy at Osmania University under university norms and Telangana government higher education guidelines.
If approved, the partnership would mark a major step in expanding global academic ties. It would also support Telangana’s vision of building a strong knowledge economy through advanced skills and innovation.
