New Delhi, June 16: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan met Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil in New Delhi on Tuesday and discussed measures to address water shortage, river conservation and sustainable water management in the state.
During the meeting, the leaders reviewed drinking water challenges in Andhra Pradesh and explored solutions to improve long term water availability.
Pawan Kalyan Discusses AP Water Shortage
Pawan Kalyan said some parts of Andhra Pradesh continue to face water scarcity despite ongoing efforts over the past decade. He stressed the need for stronger measures to ensure stable and reliable drinking water supply.
He also highlighted the importance of maintaining river water purity ahead of the Godavari Pushkaralu and called for greater focus on water quality monitoring.
The Deputy Chief Minister suggested that Andhra Pradesh study Surat’s treated industrial water reuse model and examine whether similar practices could be adopted in the state.
Union Minister CR Patil advised officials to focus on preventing water shortages and strengthening river conservation initiatives. Pawan Kalyan also appreciated officials involved in implementing the Jal Jeevan Mission.
Raising concerns over industrial pollution, the Deputy Chief Minister directed officials to enforce Zero Liquid Discharge norms strictly and improve pollution control measures.
He said comprehensive action covering water reuse, river protection and pollution management would help achieve better drinking water standards and support long term water security goals.
