Thirupathanna, who was arrested in this case, has been in jail for 10 months. Thirupathanna had earlier approached the Telangana High Court for bail several times, but it was refused. Challenging this, he approached the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, the hearing was postponed several times. The bench that took up the hearing today (Monday) granted him bail.

During the hearing of the case, Siddhartha Luthra and Siddhartha Dave argued on behalf of the Telangana government and Tirupatanna. When a bench of Justice B.V. Nagaratna and Justice Satish Chandra asked Luthra how much more time he would take to investigate the case, he said four months. The High Court expressed its impatience to ask for more time. However, Tirupatanna’s lawyer requested the Supreme Court to grant bail, saying that the accused has been in jail for 10 months. After hearing the arguments of both sides, the court agreed with the petitioner’s arguments and granted bail. It ordered Tirupatanna to cooperate with the investigation of the case and not to influence witnesses.

To this extent, it seems that Thirupathanna got a big relief in the phone tapping case.  Meanwhile, there were many allegations that the officials tapped the phones of many people under the pressure of political leaders during the BRS regime. Cases were registered that evidence was also destroyed on the day the Congress came to power on the Telangana Election results day on December 3, 2023. The police registered a case and arrested Additional SP Thirupathanna as the main accused in this case. Meanwhile, the ASP, who has been in jail for almost ten months, will be released with the Supreme Court verdict.  (Maxim News)
