Phone Tapping Case: SIT Likely to Issue Fresh Notice to KCR

Phone Tapping Case | Hyderabad, Jan. 30: The phone tapping case investigation has reached a crucial stage, with the Special Investigation Team preparing to issue a fresh notice to former Chief Minister and BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao, also known as KCR.

According to sources, KCR was asked to appear before the SIT at 3 pm on Friday.

However, he informed the investigators through a written communication that he would be unable to attend the inquiry due to ongoing municipal election activity and pre scheduled party meetings.

Fresh SIT notice expected in phone tapping case

Taking note of KCR’s request, SIT officials are now likely to issue another notice on Friday. The fresh notice is expected to clearly mention the revised date, time, and venue for the questioning in the case.

Officials said that as per legal provisions, KCR is not required to appear at a police station due to his age. The SIT has indicated that the examination can be conducted at a place of his choice within Hyderabad.

Sources added that investigators are considering conducting the inquiry at KCR’s residence in Nandinagar.

However, party circles said KCR is currently staying at his Erravelli farmhouse and has conveyed his preference for the questioning to be held there.

The case relates to alleged illegal surveillance during the previous BRS government. The SIT has already questioned several former officials and political functionaries as part of the probe.

Investigators believe the next round of questioning will be significant for determining the course of the case. The SIT has maintained that the investigation is being conducted strictly as per law and procedure.
