Delhi/Hyderabad, Sept 14 (Maxim News): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 5th edition of ‘SEMICON India 2026’, which aims to make India a global semiconductor manufacturing hub, on September 17 at ‘Yashobhoomi’ in Delhi.
The three-day national conference, to be held from September 17 to 19, is being jointly organized by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), the Ministry of External Affairs (MeitY) and the International Industry Association (SEMI) with the theme ‘Silicon to Systems Building the Ecosystem’.
A total of over 600 exhibitors are participating in this exhibition, including international and domestic giants such as ASML, Micron, Tata Electronics, Infineon, and Lam Research, as well as 300 foreign companies.
The central government has approved 12 semiconductor projects under the Semicon India Program 1.0, and 3 units have already started commercial production.
The Ministry of Information Technology has also announced that the Union Cabinet has approved the next phase of ‘Semicon 2.0’ , which consists of six main pillars .
The Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), through its ‘India Semiconductor Mission’ (ISM), is doing its bit to advance the semiconductor sector in the country by providing EDA tools to educational institutions and startups, either free of cost or at subsidized rates.
As part of this, electronic design automation (EDA) tools have been provided to more than 400 educational institutions and 105 startups so far, while 24 startups have been approved under the Design Linked Incentive (DLI) scheme.
The exhibition will also be a special platform for startups, student hackathons, and skill development. (Maxim News)
