New Delhi, June 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday extended birthday wishes to President Droupadi Murmu and praised her journey of public service, saying her life continues to inspire millions across the country.
In a post on X, Modi described President Murmu’s life as a story of courage, simplicity, humility and dedication to public service. He said she has served the nation with distinction and has shown deep concern for the poor and marginalised.
The Prime Minister also said her commitment to India’s development remains highly inspiring. He wished her a long and healthy life in service of the nation and said he looked forward to meeting her later in Odisha.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also greeted President Murmu on her birthday. He praised her simple life, commitment to tribal welfare and dedication to constitutional values.
President Murmu became the 15th President of India on July 25, 2022. She is the first tribal woman and also the youngest person to hold the country’s highest constitutional office.

Before becoming President, she served as the Governor of Jharkhand from 2015 to 2021. Born on June 20, 1958, in Uparbeda village of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, she comes from a Santhal tribal family.
President Murmu studied in Bhubaneswar and became the first girl from her village to pass matriculation and earn a college degree. She graduated from Ramadevi Women’s College in 1979 with a BA in Political Science and Economics.
Her rise from a remote tribal village to Rashtrapati Bhavan is widely seen as one of the most inspiring journeys in Indian public life.
