PV Sindhu BWF Council Role Gains Attention

Top badminton players often face packed schedules. Continuous tournaments also increase the risk of injuries. Therefore, Sindhu’s role could help protect player interests and improve long term planning in the sport.

She is currently an active international player. At the same time, she now holds voting rights in the sport’s global governance structure. This rare achievement highlights her standing in world badminton.

Reacting to the appointment, Sindhu said it is an honour to represent the voice of badminton players across the world. She added that contributing to the growth of the sport is a matter of pride.

BWF President Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul welcomed Sindhu to the council. She said Sindhu is a strong role model for athletes worldwide. She also said Sindhu’s presence would make the voice of players stronger within the federation.

Board members believe Sindhu’s experience at the highest level will help shape better policies for the future of badminton. Her long career, consistency, and understanding of player challenges are expected to add value to the council.

Sindhu has won Olympic medals, world titles, and several major international honours for India. Now, she enters a new phase where she can influence decisions beyond the court and help improve the sport globally. (Maxim News)
