Rain Alert | Hyderabad, Sept. 22: The Meteorological Department has issued a fresh rain alert for Telangana, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in several districts over the next three days.

Officials said the weather system is expected to bring widespread showers, accompanied by thunderstorms in some areas.

According to the forecast, moderate rainfall is likely in Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Gadwal districts. Meanwhile, heavy rains are expected in Warangal, Jangaon, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Jagtial, Adilabad, Hyderabad, Mahabubabad, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Yadadri, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, and Mulugu districts. Residents in these regions have been advised to remain cautious as the department has also warned of thunderstorms in multiple areas.

Rain Alert

In Andhra Pradesh, the Disaster Management Agency said a new low-pressure system is likely to form in the north Bay of Bengal within the next 24 hours. This weather system is expected to bring moderate to heavy rains, with thunderstorms likely in north Andhra, Chittoor, and Tirupati districts today.

Officials further warned that the low-pressure area may intensify into a depression by Thursday, potentially causing more intense rainfall on Thursday and Friday. Fishermen have been advised to return to the coast by Wednesday, while farmers engaged in agricultural activities have been urged to take necessary precautions.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad witnessed heavy downpours on Monday night. Several areas including Hayatnagar, Uppal, Ramanthapur, Osmania University, Tarnaka, Habsiguda, Nacharam, Mallapur, and parts of the old city experienced intense showers. Jubilee Hills and Film Nagar also reported rainfall, with thunder and lightning in some localities. The downpour led to waterlogging in low-lying areas, disrupting normal life in parts of the city.

With more heavy rains expected this week, both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh remain on high alert as authorities continue to monitor the evolving weather conditions.
