Rajinikanth Denies Jealousy Over Vijay’s Political Rise

Chennai, May 17: Superstar Rajinikanth on Sunday dismissed reports claiming he was jealous of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam founder and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay. He clarified that his recent meeting with DMK president M K Stalin was purely a friendship call without any political agenda.

Speaking to reporters at his Poes Garden residence in Chennai, Rajinikanth rejected speculation that the meeting aimed to block Vijay’s political growth or discuss any political merger.

The veteran actor said he had known Vijay since childhood and praised his rapid political success at a young age.

Rajinikanth said there was a 25 year age gap between him and Vijay and added that the younger leader had achieved remarkable success by becoming Chief Minister at the age of 52.

“He has achieved more than MGR and NTR at a young age. Why would I feel jealous?” Rajinikanth said while responding to questions from reporters.

He also congratulated Vijay after Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam formed the government with support from Congress, VCK, Left parties and IUML following the April 23 elections. The alliance defeated both the DMK and AIADMK in the Assembly polls.

Rajinikanth further clarified that he stayed away from politics due to health reasons and advised his fans to support any political party according to their personal choice.

The actor also appealed to people to give Vijay at least two years to establish himself in governance before making judgments about his leadership.

Rajinikanth’s comments gained attention as political discussions around Vijay’s emergence continue to dominate Tamil Nadu politics after the recent Assembly election results.
