Revanth Reddy Warns 16 MLAs Over ‘Nepotism’ and Rebel Failures

HYDERABAD, 20 December (Maxim News): Despite a sweeping victory in the Telangana Gram Panchayat elections, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and the Congress high command have taken a stern view of internal coordination failures. In a high-level teleconference held on Saturday, the CM reportedly expressed his “impatience and anger” toward 16 MLAs and several constituency in-charges for failing to manage party interests effectively.

The meeting saw the participation of TPCC President B. Mahesh Kumar Goud, Congress State Affairs In-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, and other senior leaders to dissect the three-phase election results.

Internal Friction Amidst Victory

While the party celebrated a majority, the leadership highlighted “irreparable damage” in specific pockets. The primary grievances raised by the Chief Minister and TPCC Chief included:

  • Failure to Manage Rebels: Leaders were criticized for their inability to coordinate with or pacify rebel candidates, leading to split votes.
  • Nepotism: The high command expressed serious displeasure over MLAs nominating their own relatives as candidates rather than prioritizing loyal party workers.
  • Lack of Coordination: A significant lack of synergy between local leaders and the state cadre was noted in constituencies where the party underperformed.

CM Revanth Reddy has reportedly issued a “stern warning” to the 16 identified MLAs, ordering an immediate change in their working style and strict adherence to party discipline.

Final Tally: Congress Dominates 56% of Seats

The reprimand comes against the backdrop of a massive overall win for the ruling party. Elections were conducted in three phases for 12,733 Panchayat Sarpanch posts across 31 districts.

The Final Standings:

The Congress party secured approximately 56% of the total seats, maintaining a steady lead from the first phase through the third. However, the leadership remains focused on “leaks” in their strongholds, signaling that performance-based accountability will be the new norm moving forward. (Maxim News)
