RRDCC To Launch Padayatra Against Cancellation Of PC Irrigation Project

Hyderabad, Aug.24 (Maxim News): DCC president Rammohan Reddy and former minister G. Prasad Kumar on Saturday announced they would launch a padayatra protesting the decision of the State government to cancel the Pranahita-Chevella irrigation project. They said the padayatra would be launched on Tuesday. They also said former MP Konda Visweswar Reddy, DCC presidents Rammohan Reddy, Challa Narasimha Reddy, former minister Chandrasekhar would take part in the Yatra.

Addressing mediapersons at Gandhi Bhavan, they said padayatra would be launched from Dhobipur to Chevella on the first day and would cover Manneguda from Chevella. They also said the third day of the Yatra would cover Parigi and the fourth day Yatra would cover Shadnagar. They said a total of 88 Km would be covered by them through their Yatra. They have demanded that the State government provide the Godavari water to the farmers of the Ranga Reddy District to prevent suicides.

Reminding that the previous Congress government of N. Kiran Kumar Reddy had allotted Rs 11 crore for undertaking the survey of Palamuru Rangareddy Lift irrigation project in the undivided state, Prasad Kumar said their district had turned into a desert due to lack of irrigation water and demanded that the Chief Minister KCR to provide the Godavari waters to the district.
