Adilabad, Sept. 18: Telangana Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir said the proposed Rs 2,278.14 crore joint user airport in Adilabad would boost connectivity, investment, jobs and tourism.
Shabbir Ali spoke at the Telangana Praja Palana Dinotsavam celebrations in Adilabad on Thursday.
He hoisted the national flag at the Police Parade Ground after receiving a guard of honour.
District Collector Rajarshi Shah, SP Akhil Mahajan, elected representatives and officials attended the programme.
Shabbir Ali said the airport project involved acquiring 2,009.23 acres. The state has sanctioned Rs 2,278.14 crore for land acquisition and related works.
He said the project would strengthen transport links and support industries, investment, employment and tourism in northern Telangana.
Shabbir Ali Highlights Adilabad Development and Welfare
Shabbir Ali said the government was also developing an industrial park over 2,062.01 acres at Boraj.
He said the Rs 40 crore IT Tower at Mavala was ready for inauguration.
On irrigation, he said works linked to the Lower Penganga project and Chanaka Korata system were being taken up at a cost of Rs 2,023 crore.
He said these works would support irrigation across 35,000 acres through the main canal.
The government has also taken up the Pippiri, Tejapur and Buggaram lift irrigation schemes at a cost of Rs 141.07 crore.
Shabbir Ali said 1,61,121 farmers received Rs 327.92 crore under Rythu Bharosa during the current Vanakalam season.
Another Rs 34.30 crore was provided to families of 686 deceased farmers under Rythu Bima, he said.
He said 16.28 lakh quintals of cotton were procured from 1,03,600 farmers.
On housing, Shabbir Ali said 21,767 Indiramma houses had been sanctioned in the first two phases.
Construction had started on 14,948 houses, while 3,968 houses had been completed.
He said Rs 337.06 crore had been transferred directly to beneficiaries.
Another 934 double bedroom houses at Mavala and KRK Colony were ready for distribution.
Later, Shabbir Ali distributed sanction letters to beneficiaries under the second phase of the Indiramma housing scheme.
He also distributed sanction letters and cheques under the Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes.
Under the Arogya Pathashala programme, he distributed spectacles to students.
Shabbir Ali said 1.06 lakh eligible consumers had benefited from free electricity under Gruha Jyothi.
The government paid Rs 104.57 crore to the power utility for the scheme, he said.
He said 1.02 lakh eligible women received LPG cylinders at Rs 500 under the Mahalakshmi scheme.
The subsidy for the scheme amounted to Rs 23.66 crore, according to the figures presented at the event.
On healthcare, Shabbir Ali said Rs 10.96 crore had been spent on treatment and surgeries for 4,388 patients under Aarogyasri.
He said Rs 40 crore was sanctioned for a new nursing college building.
Another Rs 41.70 crore was sanctioned for upgrading hospitals at Utnoor and Boath, he said.
In education, Shabbir Ali said Young India Integrated Residential Schools were being developed at Adilabad, Utnoor and Boath.
The estimated investment for the schools was Rs 200 crore, he said.
He said Adilabad recorded a 96.90 per cent pass rate in SSC examinations.
According to the figures shared at the programme, 67 students secured seats at IIIT Basara.
Shabbir Ali also highlighted welfare initiatives for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes and minorities.
He said 100 women received Rs 50 lakh under the Indiramma Minority Mahila Yojana.
Another 10 beneficiaries received bikes with Rs 10 lakh assistance under the Revanthanna Ka Sahara scheme.
Sewing machines were also distributed to 453 women.
Shabbir Ali said the government was pursuing development and welfare programmes together to ensure eligible beneficiaries received support.
