Shashidhar Suspects EC, CEO Roles On Poll Percentage In Assembly Elections

Hyderabad, May 6 (Maxim News): TPCC election committee chairman Marri Shashidhar Reddy today alleged that the Election Commission tried to reduce the increased poll percentage of the recent Assembly elections in the State. He also alleged that Chief Election Commissioner O P Rawat initially announced that the total percentage of polling registered in Assembly elections was 61 percent, but later he claimed that the polling percentage had gone up to 72 percent. He said Rawat retracted from his statement and said the polling was 60.15 percent.

Speaking to mediapersons here, Shashidhar Reddy said they had been questioning the EC about the difference in poll percentage. He alleged that the State CEO Rajat Kumar’s statement said there was an increase of 2.12 percent of polling was a blatant lie while the actual percentage of increase in the poll percentage was 5.7 percent. He said there was no answer from the EC when they sought details of the poll percentages recorded in 17 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana.

Shashidhar Reddy claimed that 90,399 additional votes had been polled in each Lok Sabha constituency. He said the role of CEO Rajat Kumar in holding elections was suspicious. He said the EC’s role to ensure fair and free elections was not as expected. He said they would hold a round table on the issue very soon. He said the Telangana State would become harbinger of change on the issue of electoral irregularities. (Maxim News)
