State Debt Enough Fraud In Two Years KTR Tells CM

  • State debt debate raised by KTR at Telangana Bhavan
  • State debt figures and six guarantees under Congress rule

The BRS executive president and former minister KTR on Sunday said that two years of fraud were enough and advised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to focus on governance instead of blaming the past. He addressed party cadre at Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad. During his speech, KTR strongly defended the previous BRS government on the issue of state debt. He said the state already carried a debt burden when the government came to power. Therefore, he argued, criticism without facts was misleading.

KTR clarified that the state had a debt of Rs 3.5 lakh crore by the time the government came to power. He explained that the previous government implemented welfare schemes for people while managing this debt. However, he expressed anger over Chief Minister Revanth Reddy repeatedly targeting him over the issue. He said such attacks ignored the broader picture of welfare spending and development priorities.

Meanwhile, KTR accused the Congress government of being responsible for what he described as the erosion of people’s assets. He alleged that public wealth was melting like camphor under the present administration. He also claimed that the Congress government failed to implement its six guarantees. According to KTR, when questioned earlier about these guarantees, Revanth Reddy used to laugh. He added that promises were made with claims of delivering Lankan Bindus, but those assurances were now missing.

KTR then took a sarcastic tone while speaking about the Chief Minister’s recent statements. He said Revanth Reddy had learned something new by blaming former Chief Minister KCR for state debt. He added that the Chief Minister now uses this argument to justify his inability to fulfill promises. However, KTR admitted that KCR did incur debt during his tenure. He said this fact should be discussed with honesty and context.

Later, KTR referred to statements made by Congress leaders about the debt incurred by KCR in Telangana. He reminded party workers that the Centre had given a clear reply to a question raised by a BJP member in Parliament. He then explained the figures in detail.

KCR took charge as Chief Minister on June 2, 2014, when the state debt stood at Rs 72 thousand crore. At the time of his resignation, the debt was Rs 3.5 lakh crore. Therefore, KTR said, the total debt incurred during KCR’s tenure amounted to Rs 2.80 lakh crore. He said these numbers must be seen with facts, not political anger. (Maxim News)
