Hyderabad, July 29: The Special Task Force (STF) of the Prohibition and Excise Department seized 13 bottles of illegal defence liquor during a raid at a house in Manneguda Laxmi Mega Township in Meerpet on Wednesday and arrested one person.
The accused, identified as Ootaganti Srinivas Goud, was allegedly selling non-duty-paid liquor from his residence in violation of excise laws.
Meerpet Defence Liquor Raid Leads to Arrest
During the search, STF officials recovered 13 liquor bottles. Preliminary examination revealed that the bottles were Defence Liquor, which is meant exclusively for sale through authorised defence canteens and is prohibited from being sold in the open market.
Officials said the seized liquor and the accused were handed over to the Meerpet Excise Station for further legal action.
The Excise Department has registered a case, and further investigation is underway to determine the source of the liquor and whether others were involved in the illegal sale.
