Delhi/Hyderabad, May 14 (Maxim News): A major earthquake struck the European country of Greece. The earthquake struck the Greek island of Kasos at 1.51 am on Wednesday. Its intensity was recorded as 6.1 on the Richter scale.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said that the earthquake occured at a depth of 78 km in the earth’s interior. It revealed that the epicenter of the earthquake was about 15 km away from the town of Fry. Due to this, tremors were felt in countries near Greece such as Cairo, Israel, Egypt, Lebanon, Turkey and Jordan.
The earthquake was felt in mainland Greece as well as in the Greek island of Crete, Kasos, Karpathos and the Dodecanese. Officials said there were no immediate reports of damage. (Maxim News)
