Supreme Court Relief For Rahul Gandhi In Assets Case

Hyderabad, August 17: The Supreme Court on Monday directed the Allahabad High Court not to proceed with a disproportionate assets case involving Rahul Gandhi.

A bench headed by Chief Justice Suryakant also directed the CBI and ED not to submit any report to the High Court in the case.

The bench included Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice V. Mohan. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal appeared for Rahul Gandhi.

Supreme Court Questions Investigation Agencies

The Supreme Court issued notice to S. Vignesh Sisir, who filed the case against Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi had approached the Supreme Court challenging an Allahabad High Court order in the matter.

The bench questioned why Rahul Gandhi was not given an opportunity to present his side before the High Court issued its order.

The court also observed that agencies can investigate alleged assets beyond known income without seeking a separate court order.

The bench questioned why investigative agencies had not taken action if the allegations were serious.

The matter will now be considered further after responses to the Supreme Court notice.
