Hyderabad, July 5 (Maxim News): BRS leader and former minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Sunday accused the Congress government of spreading “false propaganda” regarding the debt accumulated during the previous BRS regime, asserting that the borrowings were utilised for development and welfare programmes across Telangana.
Speaking at a Jubilee Hills constituency meeting held at Telangana Bhavan, Talasani said the KCR-led government had incurred around ₹4 lakh crore in debt over ten years to implement infrastructure and welfare initiatives.
Questioning the Congress government, he asked what had been achieved after allegedly borrowing a similar amount within just two-and-a-half years. He also criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, accusing the Congress of coming to power on what he described as “false promises.”
Calls for Vigilance During Voter List Revision
The former minister praised late BRS leader Maganti Gopinath for his contributions to the development of the Jubilee Hills constituency and alleged that the ruling party was misusing its authority ahead of the Jubilee Hills by-election.
Talasani urged BRS booth-level workers to remain vigilant during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. He instructed party cadre to ensure that the names of eligible voters are not removed from the voter list and encouraged all citizens who have attained the age of 18 years to register as voters.
He also said that only leaders who enjoy the confidence and support of the people would be considered for candidature in the upcoming local body elections.
Referring to the recent arrests of BRS leaders, Talasani alleged that senior party leader Harish Rao and others were detained illegally for raising public issues. He expressed confidence that the BRS would return to power in the future and hold the Congress government accountable.
