Telangana Inter Board Merger | Hyderabad, May 7: Telangana Inter Board merger plan is gaining momentum as the state government prepares major reforms in the education system.
Officials are considering the merger of the Board of Intermediate Education Telangana State with the School Education Board. Moreover, the move follows recommendations made by State Education Commission Chairman Akunuri Murali.
The commission stated that many countries treat education up to Grade 12 under a single school education system. Therefore, officials believe a unified structure could improve subject understanding and academic continuity for students.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy reportedly responded positively to the proposal. In addition, he directed officials to begin work on the implementation process.

The proposal also aims to reduce administrative and operational costs. Currently, only seven states in India continue with separate intermediate boards, while most states follow a unified education structure from Class 1 to Class 12.
Officials said the merger could reduce pressure on students after Class 10. At present, students shift to a separate board after SSC education. However, the proposed system may ensure smoother academic transition and better coordination.
Furthermore, authorities expect the move to improve transparency and remove administrative complications within the education system. Education department officials are now reviewing the recommendations before taking a final decision.
Sources said the government may issue a formal notification soon based on the commission’s suggestions. The Telangana Inter Board merger plan is expected to become a major reform in the state’s education policy.
