Telangana Railway Projects Face Push for Faster Execution

Hyderabad, August 31 (Maxim News): Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju has directed departments to resolve pending issues linked to railway projects across Telangana.

He issued the directions during a review meeting at the Telangana Secretariat on Monday. South Central Railway General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava and senior state officials attended the meeting.

The review covered project progress, land acquisition, administrative approvals and other implementation challenges. Officials also discussed the support required from the state government.

Jaju said better railway connectivity remains vital for Telangana’s economic, industrial and regional development. Therefore, he asked officials and district collectors to address pending matters without delay.

Officials informed the meeting that the Railway Board has received DPRs for 17 railway projects. Together, the projects cover 2,023 kilometres.

The projects carry an estimated cost of ₹50,870 crore. The state government now plans to coordinate with railway authorities to speed up their implementation.

21 Railway Issues Taken Up for Resolution

The meeting reviewed around 21 pending issues affecting railway infrastructure. These included railway underpasses, overbridges and approach roads.

Officials also discussed road widening and railway line doubling. Improving public transport connectivity to Charlapalli Railway Station also featured in the review.

Jaju directed departments to conduct joint inspections with South Central Railway officials. He asked them to identify practical solutions for each pending issue.

In line with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s directions, officials will also prepare plans for railway expansion in the Future City areas. The plans will cover the Outer Ring Road and Regional Ring Road regions.

The Chief Secretary asked the Municipal Administration, HMWSSB, Revenue, Energy and Roads and Buildings departments to coordinate closely. Their cooperation remains important for resolving land, infrastructure and utility related issues.

He also stressed the need for continuous coordination between state departments and South Central Railway. Jaju assured railway officials that the state government would provide necessary support.

The meeting also focused on mobilising funds through the PM Gati Shakti initiative. Jaju directed officials to prepare comprehensive Detailed Project Reports for projects seeking central funding.

He further called for DPRs covering the expansion of MMTS services. Officials must also prepare plans for railway terminals around the ORR and RRR.

The plans should consider Hyderabad’s future transport requirements. The government also wants officials to identify land needed for future railway connectivity, including proposed bullet train corridors.

The review was attended by GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan, TGIIC Managing Director Shashanka and RTC Managing Director Nagi Reddy.

Special Secretary Finance Sikta Patnaik, City Police Joint Commissioner Traffic Joel Davis and several district collectors also attended. Senior South Central Railway officials and other state officials participated in the meeting.
