Telangana SIR | Hyderabad, August 11, : As many as 73.52 lakh Telangana voters did not submit enumeration forms during the ongoing voter list revision process.
The 45 day enumeration exercise began on June 25 and ended after the Election Commission extended the deadline twice. The extensions came after requests from political parties and the election authorities.
According to figures released by the Election Commission, Telangana had 3,38,26,448 registered voters. However, only 2,64,73,616 voters submitted their enumeration forms.
As a result, 73,52,832 voters remain without submitted forms. Officials have indicated that such voters could lose their names from the electoral roll if they do not meet the required verification process.
Hyderabad recorded the highest number of voters who did not submit forms. The district reported 19.47 lakh such voters.
Rangareddy followed with 15.88 lakh voters. Medchal Malkajgiri recorded another 10.73 lakh voters who did not submit their forms.
Together, these three districts account for about 46 lakh voters without submitted enumeration forms. Therefore, the revision could significantly change voter numbers across the Hyderabad metropolitan area.

The impact appears particularly high in urban constituencies. Officials and political parties had expected substantial changes in areas with high population movement.
Hyderabad and its surrounding districts have large numbers of migrants and residents who frequently change addresses. Therefore, verification challenges can affect voter records in these areas.
The Election Commission plans to publish the draft electoral roll on August 17. The draft will provide the first official indication of which voters remain on the revised list.
Meanwhile, Booth Level Officers and supervisors are preparing the draft roll. Officials are also checking the data to reduce errors before publication.
However, some voters have reportedly faced difficulties during the enumeration process. In some areas, concerns have also emerged over the functioning and awareness of Booth Level Officers.
The revision could also affect the number of polling stations. Officials have planned to reorganise polling stations based on the revised voter strength.

Each polling station will have a maximum of 1,200 voters under the proposed arrangement. The Election Commission is expected to announce the details along with the revised electoral roll process.
The number of un-submitted forms varies sharply across districts. Sangareddy has around 2.98 lakh such voters. Nizamabad has about 2.11 lakh, while Vikarabad has around 2.10 lakh.
At the other end, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri recorded about 26,170 voters without submitted forms. Mulugu reported 27,867, while Bhupalpally recorded 35,935.
Wanaparthy recorded about 38,592 such voters. These figures show that the impact remains concentrated in larger urban districts.
The draft roll will now become crucial for voters and political parties. Voters whose names do not appear will need to follow the prescribed process for claims and objections.
The final impact on Telangana’s electoral rolls will therefore depend on the verification, claims and objections process after publication of the draft list.
