Tripura BSF Personnel Attack: Nine People Arrested

Tripura, Nov. 3: Nine people, including three women, have been arrested for allegedly attacking Border Security Force (BSF) personnel at Ashabari along the India-Bangladesh international border in Tripura’s Sepahijala district, police officials said on Tuesday.

Three BSF personnel, including a Company Commander, were injured when a mob allegedly attacked them with sticks near the international border on Monday. The incident occurred at Ashabari, under the jurisdiction of Kalamchaura police station.

According to a senior police official, BSF personnel noticed Indian and Bangladeshi smugglers allegedly involved in illegal cross-border trade. The jawans rushed to the spot and apprehended an Indian smuggler, while the Bangladeshi smugglers escaped across the border fence.

The Indian smuggler also managed to escape and allegedly informed villagers that BSF personnel had assaulted him, the official said.
