TRS Usurped Posts Violating Democratic Norms: Laxman

Hyderabad, Jan 28 (Maxim News): Launching a scathing attack on ruling TRS party, state BJP president Dr K Laxman decried chief minister KCR and his son KTR who made mockery of democracy by grabbing coveted posts of municipalities and corporations in an undemocratic manner.

Addressing a press conference at state party office here, Dr Laxman alleged that ruling party leaders have adopted undemocratic and unconstitutional methods in usurping chairmanship and vice chairman posts of municipalities and mayor posts in corporations where opposition parties have gained majority. Terming KCR and KTR who is also municipal administration minister as “political opportunists”, the BJP chief said ruling party has indulged in various tactics to win the elections including violation of elections norms, distribution of money to lure voters and misusing of official machinery.

The BJP not only fought elections politically against TRS, Congress and MIM, but also strongly faced irregularities of opposition parties particularly TRS in the municipal elections held first time after formation of new state of Telangana, he said.

Stating that performance of the party was very encouraging which contested this elections for the first time on its own without alliance with any other party, Dr Laxman said the party has increased its seats and vote percentage in municipalities and corporations across the state. He thanked people who extended their support and voted in favour of BJP candidates inspite of TRS party’s tactics to lure voters.

Referring to Nizamabad Municipal Corporation elections, he said the ruling TRS party with the support of MIM has bagged mayor post of the corporation where BJP stood largest single party by winning 28 seats. But ,the mayor post was usurped by using ex-officio members votes. He stated that the TRS party which stood third position by winning five out of 15 seats in Tukkuguda municipality, grabbed chairman post through back door where BJP won 9 seats. It was condemnable that the TRS party used bogus votes here. Till the end of elections process time, ex-officio members and a Rajya Sabha member K Keshav Rao names were listed in Badangpet municipality. But, on the last minutes the officials under the pressure from the ruling party changed their jurisdiction and allotted to Tukkuguda. Rajya Sabha member K Keshav Rao of TRS party was allotted as Rajya Sabha member from Andhra Pradesh as per the parliament bulletin . How can he exercise his vote in Telangana , Laxman questioned, and demanded cancellation of selection of chairman and vice chairman posts of Tukkuguda municipality. He warned that the party would call for a bandh if the government ignore our appeal.
