TSCOST Holds National Children’s Science Congress

Hyderabad, May 28 (Maxim News): Telangana State Council of Science & Technology (TSCOST) is organizing “National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC)” program in Telangana State with the sponsorship and under the guidelines of Department of Science & Technology (DST), Govt. of India, by involving School Going / Dropout Students in the age group of 10 to 17 years to inculcate Scientific Temper and to orient the students towards research activities through “Learning by Doing Scientific Projects”.

As a part of the 27th Edition of NCSC 2019, TSCOST organized the State Level Training Workshop for Resource Teachers on NCSC on May 28 at the Conference Hall, Aranya Bhavan here. The objective of the workshop was to sensitize the NCSC fraternity present all over Telangana State about the salient features of the focal theme of 27th NCSC-2019 as well as organizational aspects and guidelines of NCSC.

Parimala Hana Nutan, IPS, Superintendent of Police, CID, Department of Home, Govt. of Telangana was the Chief Guest of the Inaugural Function. She strongly advocated for development of scientific temper and scientific awareness on several aspects of Health, Hygiene and Green Cover among students and various cross sections of society in the country, so that India continues to be a Clean, Green and Healthy Nation.

G. Krishnaveni, Additional Secretary to Govt., EFS&T Dept., Govt. of Telangana, who was the Guest of Honour, stressed on the need for increasing the reach, orientation and mentoring activities related to NCSC projects so that the students would be motivated towards undertaking research activities from the beginning of their academic careers.

Prof. Ravi Kumar Puli, Member Secretary, TSCOST, Government of Telangana & State Coordinator for NCSC, presiding over the function, informed that the Govt. of India declared “Science, Technology & Innovation for a Clean, Green & Healthy Nation” as focal theme of 27th NCSC 2019.

Prof. Ravi Kumar Puli, Member Secretary, TSCOST advised the NCSC District Coordinators and District Academic Coordinators of the state to guide the teachers, students and the school dropouts to prepare innovative projects based on the focal theme so that the students would imbibe scientific attitude from their childhood.

Dr. D. Kashinath, Associate Professor, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal and also the State Academic Coordinator participated in the Program and imparted the necessary guidance to District Level NCSC Coordinators and Academic Coordinators on various facets of preparation of NCSC projects with specific reference to the focal theme.

The Chief Guest of the Valedictory Function M. Prithvi Raju, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Forest Department, Govt. of Telangana urged all the NCSC functionaries to work for the noble cause of scientific temperament for the progress of the Nation. M. Prithvi Raju, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Forest Department, Govt. of Telangana presented certificates to all the participants. TSCOST officers, NCSC functionaries such as District Coordinators, District Academic Coordinators and Resource Persons from all over the state have participated in the above Workshop. (Maxim News)
