TUWJF : Hyderabad, June 17: The Telangana Urdu Working Journalists’ Federation (TUWJF) continued its efforts to support journalists and their families by facilitating benefits under the Journalists Welfare Fund Scheme for eligible beneficiaries.
At a cheque distribution programme held at the Telangana Media Academy Auditorium in Nampally, Telangana Media Academy Chairman K. Srinivas Reddy distributed financial assistance cheques to 21 beneficiaries under the Journalists Welfare Fund Scheme.
The beneficiaries included 17 family members of deceased journalists and four journalists undergoing treatment for serious health issues. Among the beneficiaries, three families received assistance with the support and follow up of the Telangana Urdu Working Journalists Federation.
Of these, two Hyderabad based Urdu journalist families were those of late Shaik Naseer of Munsif and late S.Q.M. Waheed Quadri of Ruby News, whose families received welfare benefits under the scheme after necessary guidance and assistance from the federation.
Speaking on the occasion, Srinivas Reddy said the State government remains committed to the welfare of journalists and their families. He noted that under the Journalists Welfare Fund Scheme, families of deceased journalists receive a one time financial assistance of ₹1 lakh, along with a monthly pension of ₹3,000 for five years.
The scheme also provides educational assistance to children of deceased journalists. Up to two children from each family are eligible for ₹1,000 per month towards tuition fees for five years.
Srinivas Reddy said the present government has so far extended similar assistance to 159 beneficiaries across Telangana, reflecting its commitment to supporting media professionals.
During the programme, participants paid tributes to journalists who had passed away and expressed solidarity with their families.
The event was attended by Telangana Media Academy Secretary Nagulapalli Venkateswara Rao, Manager Shaileshwar Reddy, journalists, beneficiaries and other officials.
TUWJF Continues Welfare Initiatives
The Telangana Urdu Working Journalists Federation has been actively working for the welfare and professional development of journalists across the State. The organization assists journalists and their families in accessing government welfare schemes, financial aid and other support programmes.
Apart from welfare activities, the federation regularly conducts initiatives aimed at upgrading journalists’ professional skills, enhancing media knowledge, promoting digital journalism and safeguarding the rights and interests of media professionals. The organization also provides guidance on accreditation, welfare benefits and issues affecting journalists in the evolving media landscape.
The event was attended by Telangana Media Academy Secretary Nagulapalli Venkateswara Rao, Manager Shaileshwar Reddy, members of the Telangana Urdu Working Journalists Federation, journalists, beneficiaries and other officials.
Federation leaders said they will continue their efforts to ensure that eligible journalists and their families receive all benefits available under government welfare schemes while also working towards the overall development of Urdu journalism in Telangana.
