Hyderabad, April 7 (Maxim News): Describing twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad as the citadel of Congress party, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy exhorted party cadre to regain the lost ground in next general elections.

Addressing the meeting with Hyderabad City Congress leaders and workers at Gandhi Bhavan on Friday, Uttam Kumar Reddy stressed on unity among all leaders and workers to ensure that the party wins all 15 Assembly and 2 Lok Sabha seats in Hyderabad and Secunderabad in 2019 elections. He said that the Congress workers should focus on door-to-door contact programmes and take up local issues so as to organise mass agitations on matters concerning common people. He said no other party in the State could match the organisational strengthen of Congress party and this should be rejuvenated on immediate basis.

Uttam Kumar Reddy announced that the Congress party would organise a Satyagraha on April 17 at the statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar near Tank Bund.

The TPCC Chief strongly condemned the decision of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to shift Dharna Chowk from Indira Park and said that the move was aimed at suppressing people’s right to protest. He said that the Congress party would strongly oppose the dictatorial and undemocratic decisions of KCR Government. He also accused the Chief Minister of foisting false cases on Congress workers. Stating that the Congress workers were not afraid of fake police cases, he warned that the party would organise ‘Jail Bharo’ agitation if the police repression continues.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the existing development in Hyderabad and its outskirts was brought by the previous Congress regime. He said that the previous Congress Government had spent over Rs. 1 lakh crore from 2004-2014 to construct projects like Outer Ring Road, PVNR Express Way, new international airport, Metro Rail, flyovers, MMTS and Krishna and Godavari water to Hyderabad for drinking purpose. He said that the present TRS Government did not contribute anything for city’s development. However, he said that the Congress party had lost the last GHMC elections only due to EVM tampering done by the TRS Government.

The TPCC chief said that KCR and his family members were now enjoying power only due to Congress president Sonia Gandhi giving Telangana State. However, he said instead of being thankful, they are abusing the Congress party while they themselves did nothing for the development of Telangana or welfare of people.

Addressing the meeting earlier, AICC Secretary R.C. Khuntia said that the Congress High Command has full faith in the leadership of Uttam Kumar Reddy and TPCC Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka. He said that the AICC strongly believes that Uttam would lead the party to power in next elections. He stressed on strengthening the party at grass root level and announced that mandal, village and booth level committees would be in place by middle of next month.

The meeting was also addressed by senior leaders including Bhatti Vikramarka, Danam Nagender, Marri Sashidhar Reddy, Sarve Satyanarayana, Anjan Kumar Yadav, Balram Naik, Shaik Abdullah Sohail, Vishnu Vardhan Reddy among others. (Maxim News)
