Uttam promises to rejuvenate education system in TS in 100 days

Hyderabad, October 24 (Maxim News): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has assured the managements of private educational institutions and their association that the Grand Alliance of Congress, TDP and other parties would include their issue in the Common Agenda and resolve them on priority basis after coming to power in next Assembly elections.

Addressing a meeting organised by KG to PG Educational Institutions JAC here on Wednesday, Uttam Kumar Reddy has accused caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao of cheating the people of Telangana on the promise of KG to PG free educations. There are nearly 85 lakh students across Telangana in various classes from KG to PG who expected that KCR’s scheme would benefit them. However, by setting up a few residential schools which cater to not more than one lakh students, KCR thinks that he had fulfilled the promise of KG to PG free education. “With what face KCR would seek vote from the people?” he asked adding that TRS Government has ruined the career of lakhs of students by not clearing the Fee Reimbursement dues. While almost all institutions were pushed into economic crisis, nearly 90% minority institutions shut down their operations. When the issue was raised in the Assembly, KCR had alleged that some colleges were being run in poultry farms. However, KCR himself never reviewed the actual conditions that prevailed in the government schools and colleges. The standard of education completely collapsed due to non-filling up of vacancies, especially those of teachers.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that over 12,000 schools, about 2,000 junior colleges, nearly 1,000 Degree Colleges, 200 PG colleges, 600 Professional Colleges and 500 B.Ed. and D.Ed. Colleges with a combined strength of 46 lakh students were being run by private managements. They are also providing employment to nearly 5 lakh people including Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff. He said they had also played a major role not only in formation of Telangana, but in formation of TRS Government in the State. However, KCR humiliated them on multiple occasions and denied appointment even to discuss their problems. He assured that the next Congress Government would evolve a system wherein meeting would be held with private managements at least once in three months to discuss and resolve all issues on priority basis.

The TPCC Chief promised that the next Congress Government would pay Fee Reimbursement amount every year in two instalments. He said there would be 100% Fee Reimbursement for students belonging to SC, ST, BC and minority communities. The power bills of private educational institutions will be converted from commercial to domestic category. Similarly, for Property Tax too, they would be converted from commercial to domestic category. He also promised that all the staff of private educational institutions, both Teaching and Non-Teaching, would be given Health Insurance up to Rs. 5 lakh and they would be issued Health Cards. He said the tuition fee and Mess Charges for intermediate, Degree and PG students would be increased. He said relaxations would be given for Fire Safety NOC for buildings of private institutions.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the next government would rejuvenate the entire education system within 100 days of coming to power by strengthening the government institutions and extending all support to managements of private institutions. He said 20,000 teachers would be recruited through a Mega DSC within 100 days. He also assured that the steps would be taken to regulate the corporate schools and colleges. He said despite giving several assurances, TRS Government did nothing to control the exorbitant fee structure of corporate institutions.

Stating that just 45 days were left for the polling for Assembly elections, Uttam Kumar Reddy the managements, staff and parents associated with private educational institutions to support the Grand Alliance and ensure that TRS is defeated in next polls. He cautioned that the conditions would turn worse if TRS retains power. He alleged that KCR and other TRS leaders were using ill-gotten money, liquor and other means to win the next elections by all means. Therefore, he said everyone in the society should treat the next elections as a personal battle and ensure defeat of KCR family.

The meeting was also addressed by Telangana TDP President L. Ramana, CPI State Secretary Chada Venkat Reddy, JAC Chairman Ramana Reddy and other leaders were also present in the meeting. They also launched the poster of “#WeToo” campaign of KG to PG JAC which is being called a ‘Movement for Change of Government of Telangana”.

“TRS leaders of Miryalguda join Congress”

Later in the day, TRS leader Amarender Reddy, along with his hundreds of supporters, joined the Congress party in the presence of Uttam Kumar Reddy, ex-CLP leader K. Jana Reddy and other senior leaders.

Speaking on the occasion, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress party would win all 12 seats of erstwhile Nalgonda district in next polls. He said it was strange for the TRS leaders living on the banks of Nagarjuna Sagar to question what Congress party did for Telangana. He said it was the Congress party that turned Telangana into an energy-surplus State. He said all the power projects operational in Telangana were initiated during Congress regime. He said TRS was wrongly trying to take credit for Congress project just by cutting the ribbons.

The TPCC Chief explained in detail various promises being made by the Congress party with the people of Telangana for next elections. They include waiver of crop loans up to Rs. 2 lakh in a single take; creation of lakhs of jobs and providing 2 lakh jobs in the first year of formation of government; Rs. 3,000 Unemployment Allowance to 10 lakh jobless youth and formation of separate corporations for the economic empowerment of poor people belonging to Reddy and Vysya communities.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the TRS leaders have been getting nightmares of a humiliating defeat ever since Congress party has decided to form a Grand Alliance with TDP, CPI and TJS. (Maxim News)
