Venkat Reddy Demands Govt To Help Victim Farmers Of Untimely Rains

Hyderabad, April 27 (Maxim News): Congress MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said the state government to come to the rescue of the farmers, who have lost their crops due to the recent hailstorm in the state immediately.

In a statement, He faulted the decision of the ruling TRS to celebrate its foundation day when the farmers of the state had lost everything due to the untimely rains. He alleged that the state government was responsible for the loss incurred by the farmers as it delayed the process of buying the food grains through its procurement centers by six months. He said that his heart was going out for the victim farmers when he saw their damaged food grains. He alleged that the state government had not yet reacted on the issue even after huge amount of damage. He also alleged that there was no body to think about the IKP Centers and PACS of the state since the last 15 days. He demanded the government to immediately procure the food grains from the farmers by realising its mistakes. Reddy said that the food grains brought to Chandoor, Pochampally, Chintapally IKP Centers of undivided Nalgonda district were damaged completely due to the untimely rains. Targeting the ruling party MLAs he said that they did nothing to help the farmers but to gain cheap publicity. He alleged that the ruling TRS party did not have the commitment to serve the people of the state .

He warned the state government that they would hold dharna programs at all the IKP and PACS Centers if the state government did not do justice to the hailstorm hit farmers. Raising the issue of sweet lime crop. Reddy demanded the state government to buy them immediately while noting that the undivided Nalgonda district alone would account for ₹400 crore worth sweet lime, mangoes and lemon yields. He demanded the state government to buy the sweet lime from the farmers and distribute it to the people of the state through ration shops. He said that the congress party would hold a massive agitation program on behalf of the farmers of the state after May 7. (Maxim News)
