Nalgonda, may 30: A major tragedy was averted after a private travel bus travelling from Hyderabad to Kakinada caught fire in Nalgonda district on Saturday. All 36 passengers on board escaped unharmed due to the timely response of the bus crew.
According to officials, the private bus was travelling from Hyderabad to Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh when the incident occurred near Peddakaparthi village in Chityala mandal.
The fire reportedly broke out while the bus was on its route, triggering panic among passengers.
Driver and Cleaner Evacuate Passengers
As soon as smoke and flames were noticed, the driver and cleaner acted quickly and evacuated all 36 passengers from the vehicle.
Their prompt action helped prevent injuries and ensured the safety of everyone on board.
Within minutes, the fire spread across the bus and engulfed the entire vehicle. The bus suffered extensive damage in the blaze.
Local residents alerted emergency services after noticing the fire.
Short Circuit Suspected Behind Bus Fire
A fire engine from the nearby fire station rushed to the spot and brought the flames under control after a firefighting operation.
Preliminary findings suggest that a short circuit may have triggered the fire. However, officials said a detailed investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the incident.
Authorities are also assessing the extent of damage caused to the vehicle.
The incident briefly disrupted traffic movement in the area before officials cleared the route.
Meanwhile, passengers expressed relief after escaping safely from the burning bus.
