Hyderabad, May 30: AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi has urged voters in Telangana to treat the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls as a crucial issue and fully cooperate with election officials during the verification process.
Addressing an Eid Milap programme at Darussalam on Friday, Owaisi said the Special Intensive Revision exercise in Telangana will begin on June 25. He said Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit households and distribute enumeration forms directly to voters as part of the voter verification process.
Owaisi appealed to voters to carefully verify the information in the forms and ensure that all eligible family members remain on the electoral rolls.

Highlighting the importance of the exercise, Owaisi advised voters who cannot read or understand the forms to seek assistance from AIMIM Booth Level Agents (BLAs) or trusted individuals.
He said the party has already appointed responsible workers as BLAs to help voters during the verification process.
“I appeal to all voters to take the Special Intensive Revision seriously. It is an important exercise that can directly affect voter registration and participation in the democratic process,” Owaisi said.
The AIMIM chief stressed that voters should cooperate with Booth Level Officers and complete the verification process within the prescribed timelines.
The Election Commission periodically conducts Special Intensive Revision exercises to update electoral rolls, remove ineligible entries, and ensure that eligible voters are correctly enrolled.
Owaisi Raises Concerns Over Religious Restrictions
During his address, Owaisi also commented on restrictions imposed by some state governments on offering prayers on public roads.
He argued that authorities should apply the same standards to all religious activities conducted on public roads and public spaces.
Owaisi alleged that attempts were being made in some parts of the country to marginalise Muslims and reduce their participation in public life.
He questioned why objections were raised to certain religious activities while similar practices associated with other faiths often did not face comparable scrutiny.
The Hyderabad MP called for equal treatment of all communities and urged authorities to uphold constitutional principles while addressing issues related to public gatherings and religious events.
Meanwhile, political observers view Owaisi’s remarks on the Telangana electoral roll revision as part of a broader effort to encourage voter awareness ahead of future elections in the state.
