According to reports, the fire started at a tyre shop located near the Masjid e Tauheed. Soon after, the flames spread to a nearby gas stoves repair shop. The incident created panic in the area, especially because a large number of people were present at the mosque at the time.

Meanwhile, around 1500 people were at the mosque when the fire broke out. Authorities quickly shifted people away from the area to ensure their safety. Emergency teams then moved in to control the situation.

“People were busy praying when the fire started. They were relocated from the place for sometime. Fire tenders arrived and reached the spot and contained the fire,” said Syed Rashed Farazuddin, former corporator Tolichowki.

Later, fire officials began examining the cause of the incident. Initial findings suggest that a short circuit in one of the shops may have triggered the blaze. As the fire spread, a few small LPG cylinders kept in the gas stove repair shop reportedly exploded, which further intensified the flames for a short period.
