Woman arrested for throwing mentally challenged daughter from 4th floor

Bengaluru, August 05: A woman was arrested in Bengaluru on Friday for allegedly killing her four-year-old mentally challenged daughter by throwing her from the fourth floor of a building. According to the police, the accused, a dentist, believed that her child, who was also unable to speak, was impeding her career advancement.

The incident occurred on Thursday within the boundaries of Bengaluru’s Sampangiramanagar police station. According to police, the accused, Sushma Bharadwaj, attempted suicide after throwing her child but was saved by neighbours.

Sushma was arrested after her husband Kiran filed a complaint against her. The couple lived on the fourth floor of CKC Garden’s Advaith Ashraya apartment. The accused is seen on CCTV walking into the balcony with her daughter and then throwing her down.

Sushma had previously attempted to abandon her daughter at a railway station. Kiran immediately rushed to the station and found their daughter, according to the police.
