Woman Caught With 40.2 kg Hydroponic Ganja Worth Rs. 14 Crore At Hyderabad Airport

Hyderabad, July 31 (Maxim News): In a major crackdown on international drug trafficking, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) apprehended a woman at Rajiv Gandhi International (RGI) Airport, Shamshabad, for smuggling 40.2 kilograms of hydroponic ganja, valued at a staggering ₹14 crore in the illegal drug market.

According to NCB officials, the woman had procured the high-grade hydroponic marijuana from Bangkok, routed her travel through Dubai, and arrived in Hyderabad with the intent to smuggle the consignment into India. She was intercepted upon arrival, following a specific intelligence tip-off received by the agency.

High-Tech Ganja from Abroad

Hydroponic ganja, often grown using advanced soil-less farming methods and climate control, is known for its high potency and premium street value. The seizure of such a large quantity indicates the involvement of a well-organized drug network with international connections.

Officials confirmed that the substance was concealed carefully within luggage, and specialized scanning and profiling led to its detection during routine customs and NCB checks at the terminal.

NCB Investigates Smuggling Network

The arrested woman, whose identity is being kept confidential for ongoing investigations, is being interrogated to uncover the broader syndicate involved in smuggling narcotics into India. Authorities suspect she may be part of a larger drug cartel operating between Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent.

“Such a massive seizure of hydroponic ganja highlights how traffickers are attempting to tap into urban demand in India through high-value, imported narcotics,” an NCB officer said.

Airport Security on High Alert

Following this operation, the RGI Airport authorities have heightened surveillance, especially on passengers arriving from drug transit hubs such as Bangkok, Dubai, and other Southeast Asian locations. Security forces are collaborating with international counterparts to trace the source and destination network of the contraband.
